Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to Meee-eeee, Happy Birthday to me.

Yep, much to my demise, I turned the big 3-0 yesterday, last evening, however you want to see it... While some people may say they dread the day and year they turn that "magic" number of 3 and zero, I don't really feel I've leaped across that line quite yet.

As I told my parents earlier in the day, while, yes, I "officially" turned 30 today, I don't really feel like I'm 30. I guess, that's the most important thing, right?

Even after a night of "moderate" beverages, I feel I can still see I have a lot before me. In life... and laughter! Oh, please watch "The Office" this week, if haven't seen it - whether you're a fan or not, you really have to see it. Once they have the episode up on Hulu, I'll post it. I'll guarantee you'll laugh. It may be the funniest episodes they've had on the entire series!

Ugh... That should be enough to wrap up this entry today, folks. I haven't written in here in a few days, so first off, I apologize. Today, the guys from work and I got together to play some basketball. It wasn't the most beautiful day to be outside, but we're troopers. It was cool and we had scattered light showers and occasional mist lingering around the area. But, you know, it was relatively mild given the time of year and we wanted to take advantage of it. Once we got the game going, it wasn't all that bad.

That is, until... First of all, I jammed my left ring finger something awful - it's all swelled up and is sore as hell. Then, my ankles succombed once again. I don't know, it has to be these shoes I have. Every time I played basketball in these things, this summer, my ankles would get sore as hell afterward. Granted, they are not basketball shoes and don't have all that much ankle support - very little, in fact. It got to the point eventually, where it was painful to even walk. I can get up and around now, so it isn't quite as bad, but it still hurts. I just hope I haven't damaged them in any way. If that is the case, then I'm gonna have problems with them even more as I get older. I already have a bad knee because of a skiing injury a couple years ago, so this is the last thing I need. You know, getting old stinks!

Not much else is new around here. And likewise, not much has really happened the last few days. Beta has finally spun up, making it the 13th hurricane of the season. With that, it makes 2005's Hurricane Season the most hurricane-prolific season ever. Unfortunately, it's very slowly moving toward the Nicaraguan coast - the last place that needs a tropical system. They've already been affected to two systems this year, with loss of life over a thousand already; mostly due to mud-slides. What an amazing year it has been...

My birthday is tomorrow... yay!!! I turn the big 2-7. It's certainly no milestone, but it means I'm also only 3 years away from 30. If you've read previous posts at all, I used to have these things called "goals" - one's that I wanted to accomplish by the time I was 30. What it means is that I've now got 3 years to meet a woman, build a solid relationship, and yeah, maybe even get married. Am I just crazy or is this whole marriage thing just freaking me out. I never knew I'd be so hung up on marriage... but jeesh, you know, it's just something I always thought I'd have out of the way by the time I was 30. I was chattin' with my ex-girlfriend's boyfriend the other day (odd, I know) and he even stated that it may be just a generation "thing," that our generation seems to wait on nearly everything anymore. I'm not sure if I completely agree with that, but it's probably mostly right.

It was strange sitting here chatting with this guy, though, the other night. Strange, in a way because at one point in my life, I didn't want anything ever to do with him, nor with the woman he was with (my ex). Surprisingly, we sat here and chatted over Yahoo! Messenger for nearly 4 hours! It seems very strange, but it was nice to just sit here and chat with the guy. It's been over 4 years... since I've even seen Chris or Megan - and you know, time heals everything. I moved past this a long time ago and even though Megan and I were back on speaking terms long before, I never knew I could have a long, civilized conversation with this guy. Hah, look at me grow! Anyhow, yeah, long sappy story, and I'm sure you really cared to learn all of that... Either way, it was nice to hear from him and even learning that they've actually talked marriage - I'm glad to see they're happy. All in all, that's what everyone wants, right? Maybe I shouldn't just congratulate them two, but everyone out there with long, happy relationships. I envy you! ;)

Well, hey take care everyone! I'm gonna get back to my din-din here; it's getting cold! Have a good evening...

Good morning, folks...

Just got home from work and am now sitting here watching Wilma make landfall on the southwestern coast of Florida. It appears that she will be making landfall near Naples, FL... so I hope that everyone in the area made the proper decisions in preparations or evacuations down there. The last thing we need is to add to an already record number of fatalities due to tropical systems this year. I can't believe the ignorance of some of these people. "Oh, it's only expected to be a Category 2 hurricane, we'll sit it out..." Where are your brain cells, people? I mean seriously, where are they? Any tropical system can be dangerous. They can kill and cause damage, even as Category 1 systems... One of my fellow forecasters at work was stating earlier that he had heard only 10% of the Keys' population was under mandatory evacuations... I'm only hoping that was word of mouth and not actual fact. If it is so, then I have some words of advice to the bureaucrats of southern Florida - don't ever let me hear you say you weren't provided sufficient warning or time for preparations. You've had 2-3 days of warning! Nothing pisses me off more than to hear people say shit like that.

Anyhow, work went slow this morning. These 8pm to 4am shifts are killer after several days of them. While I'm a night-owl and stay up all hours of the night, I still come home wore out. I don't know why, its not like I'm in a highly stressed environment. It's quite the opposite, actually. It was my last shift for a couple days, so maybe that's why it went by so slowly. Having the next couple of days off, I plan on getting some things done. I need a haircut something awful and my apartment looks horrible without any food in the cupboards or beer in the 'fridge. I'm planning on taking the 10 minute trek to the grocery store tomorrow afternoon. I have to get food in this place. I've been living off of soup the past couple of days just because all I have left to eat are things I actually have to cook. While I don't mind cooking, I hate the fact that every time I cook anything in my oven, the god-damn heat detector goes off. It's such an annoyance... and even more-so an embarrassment. I'm sure my neighbors know by now that when they hear the thing go off, its "dinner-time" in apartment 529. If I haven't had my heat on or have had it turned down, it doesn't happen as often. During the winter, of course, it's hard not to have the heat on, so that's when it becomes quite an issue. There have been times I've had to open my windows and turn the fan on! How's that for comfortable living!?! Ah well, it's a good excuse not to cook, I suppose.

So, anyway, yes, I have some things to get done the next couple of days. Of course, I'll also have some MNF to watch tonight. It's so odd realizing how big of a fan of football I'm becoming. I never used to watch football all that much - I was such a big college basketball and baseball fan, I guess I never really gave it a chance. Now that I actually sit through entire games and sometimes through an entire Sunday afternoon watching these games, it's exciting. See folks, this is what happens when you're "incredibly" single and fantasy sports is all you have to keep from flipping your noodle... *grin

I realized just today that my birthday is like, next weekend. I don't know why, but it seems to have snuck up on me pretty quickly this year. I can't believe I'll be 27. Christ, I'm only 3 years removed from the big 3-0 and I'm nowhere near accomplishing everything I wanted to by then. I suppose I have 3 years, but you know that's not a whole lot of time to meet a woman, court for a considerable amount of time, get married and have a family. I always felt that I'd have accomplished all of that by the age of 30... Granted, I am happy with my life up to now - especially given the fact that I finally have started my career and am living on my own for the first time. I like the added responsibilities that come along with all that (besides all the damn creditors), and love the fact that I am supporting myself. After years and years of living off of my parents, I feel great knowing that I don't have to depend on them anymore. I love and miss them dearly, of course, but it's just nice to feel that I'm getting on with my own life. I just wish in a lot of ways, I had someone to share it with. Maybe one of these days...

Well, enough for now. Take care and have a great Monday!

By the way, it appears Wilma is now making landfall; just south of Naples, FL. I gotta go flip on the TV to watch all the idiotic media-types stand out in the wind and rain.

Hello everyone!

It's a bit slow today at work, so I thought I might jump on here and say "hey!" Not much has been going on lately. I am now pulling day shifts from 8:00am to 4:00pm - the first I've worked day shifts in some time. It's nice for a change of pace. And it is definitely nice having evenings to myself. Now, I just need to meet "someone" to go out with, right? *grin*

Anyhow, I'm in the middle of the 2:00pm Indiana forecast here. Since there's hardly a cloud in the sky over Indiana and there doesn't appear to be any type of precipitation at all in the forecast for the next 24 hours, it's been fairly simple. Three hours to do a forecast is plenty when you don't have many grids to draw in. I think I drew in maybe 10 grid frames through the entire forecast... Mostly for high clouds late in the period (tomorrow afternoon). Otherwise, there's hardly anything going on there. All I have to do the rest of the afternoon, really is to keep an eye on Kansas and Nebraska, where there is precip and yes, plenty of clouds to worry about! That'll keep me busy, for a little while, updating the forecast each hour for the 511 (travel weather) services.

Hopefully, everyone else is doing well... Oh, and if you're out there reading this -- I want to thank those of you that sent me cards or money for my birthday! I was very much appreciated. If you sent me money, just so you know, you bought me a nice vacuum for my birthday! :) I haven't used it yet, but it's a Dirt Devil bagless with all the attachments...! It's kinda neat that I'm actually buying these things for myself. I feel like I really am living out on my own now... Haha!

Well, it's getting about time for me to finish off my Indiana forecast here! I need to go through the sites to do my hourly temperature and wind forecasts, of course.

Hey, take care and hope everyone's weekend is going well!
Have fun...
