GrLevelX has once again risen the bar to radar visualization tools. GrLevel2, the Level-2 Doppler data viewer now has an Analyst Edition that will be soon available. With it's new volume explorer, users will be able to "peel" away layers of a thunderstorm cell to reveal it's inner workings. Here's a screen-shot of what one of these features will look like. Isn't that amazing?
I'm one of the few professional/operational meteorologists out there that have yet to jump on the GrLevelX bandwagon (mainly due to financial concerns). The software itself is near $70 and if you use the Level-2 viewer, there are additional fees for real-time Level-2 access. I may be sold, however, given the new capabilities. Apparently, the Analyst Edition will be available by the end of the month... so we'll see where I'm at financially.
