Hey folks! It's late, yes, but I don't work until 4pm tomorrow and feel the need to celebrate this. The volleyball league we were supposed to have been signed up for again this year, fell through, but several of us at Meridian were able to get signed up for the Wallyball league at Center Court a couple of weeks ago.
Wallyball, if you are not familiar with it, is basically the same as Volleyball, only you play on a Racquetball court and you can use the walls to serve off of, hit the ball off of during play, and even spike off of! The only catch I can see so far is that when you serve, spike, or hit the ball into your opponent's court and it hits the far wall before anything else, it's considered a side-out. The ball goes to the opponent and you retain play. It's quite different, but I'd have to say it's one of the funnest games I've played in a long time. I think we're all going to have a great time with this! Especially, if our record keeps going this way.
In our first game, we won the first set, lost the second, but came roaring back to win the third. The first two sets, you play to 15, the third, if necessary, to 11. We happened to hit 11 first, so our record improved to 1-0!
So, one week into the 8-wk season and we have already won more games than we did in the entire season of Volleyball last year. If you can recall, we went "oh" for the season, going winless. Yeah, it sucked. ;)
We'll certainly have to play better, because there are teams there that have played this game many, many times before. Our team? Out of the four of us that played last week, none of us had ever played this game before. Hopefully, it isn't just beginner's luck and we can win several more.
** Oh, and while I'm here, you may notice that my previous post has been removed. I had a stroke of genius yesterday afternoon (okay, it was more of a reminder from a supervisor of mine at work) that it was probably not an appropriate topic for a personal blog. I didn't feel really all that comfortable with it on here, to begin with, and so - if there is anything you really feel you want to share concerning what the post was about (if you read it previously), you can still leave any input, but please send it to me via E-mail. That information is found above.
Stay tuned!
